The High Moors over Masham Walk is a breathtakingly scenic adventure in Yorkshire Dales National Park that will see you climb uphill across the moor for stunning views. Along the trail, you will pass by the Leighton and Roundhill reservoirs before climbing uphill to a small plateau on the moor for views of Upper Nidderdale and the Vale of York.

The Walk Hackfall Woods near Masham is a lovely area of woodland which is being restored by the Woodland Trust after years of decline. The approach along the River Ure via the Ripon Rowel footpath is an ideal way to arrive at the woods. Returning via the pretty village of Grewelthorpe and Nutwith Common makes sense and completes a pleasant circuit.

Low Burn Bridge. River Ure near Masham. On emerging from the copse I reached Low Burn Bridge, another place of the memories of 1976. While staying in the area I had befriended a group of local lads from Masham who, around teatime on a Saturday would walk down from town to Low Burn Bridge and lay fishing lines in the river.
